Transfer Ownership of Document

How to change owners

  1. Go to drive.google.com.

  2. Check the box next to the file or folder you want to transfer to another owner.

  3. Click the Share icon 

    OR

  4. Right click on the file and select "Share..."

  5. If the new owner already has access, skip to Step 7. Otherwise, follow these steps:

    • Type the email address of the new owner in the "Invite people" field.

    • Click Send.

  6. Click the drop-down menu to the right of the new owner's name; choose "Is owner."

  7. Click Save changes.

After you transfer ownership, you'll have access to the doc as an editor.
